1-11-12 RMS teams split first games of 2012

RMS girls split

Romney Middle School’s girls put on an impressive defensive performance in beating Paw Paw last week, then dropped a pair of games to Petersburg a night later.

Paw Paw’s Pirates scored just once in Romney’s 30-2 victory Jan. 4.  Jacqueline Dean led the Pioneers in scoring with 10 points.

Dean was the high scorer for the RMS seventh-graders a night later in a 33-15 loss to Petersburg.

The Romney eighth-graders fell by a similar score, 32-14, to the Vikings. Victoria Moreland led the Pioneer scoring effort with 10 points.

RMS boys split

Romney Middle School’s eighth-grade boys split a pair of road games to start the new year.

The Pioneers fell at Petersburg 63-45 on Jan. 5, the night after they rolled past Paw Paw 53-12.

Every player on the team got in the game in the romp over Paw Paw. The home team was held scoreless in the second quarter, trailing 34-3 at halftime.

Jordan Richardson scored 13 and John Judy added 10 for RMS.

Tyler Andes and Evan Staley each bucketed 13 points for the Pioneers in the Petersburg loss.
